For information regsrding the preparation of the next set of rostered duties, please see the news items below.
Please do NOT rely on the email reminders issued by this website. There are many reasons why you might not receive them. Generating the reminders currently includes a manual process which occasionally may not be possible. It is also possible that the reminders might get spam trapped or stuck in an email queue somewhere. Please check the roster lists on this site occasionally and keep track of your duties. The reminders should be considered a backup.
Please....
...If you book a glider, please arrive on time, help unpack and/or repack the hangar as appropriate, and help at the launch point when you are not flying - it's part of the deal!...
...Do record your duty swaps on the website...
...Do try to arrange your duty swaps in plenty of time...
...Do phone around if an email to the lists has not found a suitable duty swap...
...Do set your availability options with consideration for the other members who also perform your role...

This update adds a new page which lists all of your duties. This page combines your outstanding duties on the main rosters, the two seat weekday instruction and the weekday tug roster.
In addition, Instructors, BI's and Launch Marshals are able to view details of the operations on their upcoming duty days by following links provided on the new page. This facility displays the operations report for the day and includes details of the bookings made so far, and the the glider allocation. Reports are only available in the five days preceding the duty, and you must hold one of the above roles on the day.
The new page can be found as "Your Duties" on the "Your Profile" menu. The previous Instructors access to the Operations report by has been superseded by the links on this new page.

The section of the CGC website that handles the bookings and rosters has been updated.
Changes includes visual fixes for Internet explorer 8, updates to the Rosters FAQ, additions to the Availability page that highlight extreme antisocial levels of unavailability, as well as many other detail changes and fixes to functionality that has not been released yet.
In addition, the user profile menu and some of the options within have been renamed, and some of the shared underlying code has been restructured.

British summer time begins next on Sunday 28th March. The changeover between Morning and Afternoon duty shifts (and booking slots) occurs at 13:30 from then.
Steve.
The Summer 2010 duty rosters are now online.
As usual if any duties do not suit, please use the normal swap arrangements to arrange cover for the duties that you are unable to attend to, and record the swap or change on the website. When arranging swaps, remember that members are more likely to respond to swap requests if you contact them directly (telephone). The email lists are a good starting point for swaps, but do not always yield a result.
We have a number of members joining the rosters for the first time. There is a frequently asked questions page visible once logged on, that explains what it is all about and how it all works.
Please can you ensure that your contact details are kept up to date on the website, and if you hold a rostered role, we ask that you allow your contact details to be viewed by other members (this is not mandatory, but is highly encouraged, as the roster arrangements rely on members being able to find swaps where duties do not suit.)
Finally, thanks for your continued support.
Steve.
I have updated some pages relating to new facilities that are yet to be released. There are no significant changes to currently released functionality, but if you spot something that does not work properly, please let me know.
Steve
Some updates have been made to the Two Seater Bookings pages.
Changes include.
- Those who have the ability to book on behalf of others can, when booking for visitors, record visitor details in a dedicated field, rather that having to use the reason field for this.
- Instructors can view the booking reason (& Visitor details where appropriate) of pupils booked for sessions in which they are instructing. Just log on and mouse over the calendar cells.
- Instructors have always had the ability to book pupils against themselves. They can now also cancel bookings that they have made in this way.
Please report any issues to me.

There have been some large updates to the section of the CGC website that holds our Booking systems and the Duty rosters.
This update makes many detail changes to exiting facilities and adds support for some new facilities to be added in the near future. Changes that you may notice include....
- The two seater booking dialog should operate more smoothly.
- The motor glider booking screen only shows the calendar for the following thirty days . The entire calendar can be viewed by clicking a link on the page once you are logged in.
- The roster tables highlight unfilled duty slots.
- This section of the website has been rebranded as the "CGC Bookings and Operations Portal"
There have also been many other detail changes, including changes the to the code behind the "Login" page.
Please report any issues to me.

The motor glider bookings pages on this website are being made live over the next few days. Existing bookings are being moved from e-Allocator and the spare availability of the Motor Glider will be opened up shortly.
CGC members are now able to book Motor Glider time directly on the club website. The new booking page should remove one of the former difficulties in co-ordinating the use of this valuable resource.
If you require instruction or a check flight, you will still need to arrange an instructor to fly with you. To assist with this, the website also contains a list of Motor Glider instructors, their contact preferences and a rough idea of their availability patterns. It is recommended that you have access to the booking page when you call them, so that you are able to discuss times and finalise the booking there and then.
By viewing the Motor Glider bookings calendar on the website, you are able to see when instructors are flying with other members, and make their visit to the airfield more worthwhile by agreeing an adjacent time slot with the same instructor. The calendar may also have notes against some days advertising instructor availability.
The Motor Glider bookings page is on the part of the website that contains the normal "Two Seater" Bookings (and duty rosters), it can be accessed from the "For Members" menu item on the main CGC homepage, or here, alongside the Two seater booking and Rosters pages at http://www.glide.co.uk/ops/
Solo Motor glider users are able to book time directly for themselves, or either the Student or Instructor can book time for tuition or check flights.
If you are arranging a flight with an instructor who is already scheduled to be on duty for two seater flying at that time, you should still agree the flight with them beforehand and also book a suitable two seater slot to cover the instructors time. In these cases it might be better to arrange to fly earlier in the morning to avoid this conflict (remember the Motor glider use is not dependant on other airfield resources, and as such is not constrained by “normal gliding operational hours”.)
Finally, if you need to make a booking further ahead than the dates listed on the website, the office should be able to open that date and record the booking on your behalf.
Steve
Please do not forget to record any duty swaps that you arrange on the website. If you are unable to do this yourself, then feel free to email me the details that you gave agreed, and I will record the swap for you.
